“Photography is the story I failed to put into words,” said the award-winning landscape photographer, Destin Sparks. We are all aware of the well-known proverb that a picture is worth a thousand words. It implies that complex and sometimes multiple ideas can be conveyed by a single still image, which conveys its meaning or essence more effectively than a mere verbal description. But to successfully tell a story through your captured photo requires you to look at your surroundings, even simple events with a very observant eye and also, a lot of skill to convey your understanding through your photographs. Consequently, Reflective Teens ensured that enthusiastic photographers could learn more deeply about this form of art by being able to listen to an award-winning photographer’s life, stories, and advice through the very recent “RT Creator’s Convergence featuring Kazi Riasat Alve”.
Every creation has a unique backend story and RT Creators’ Convergence works to spread that story among the teenagers. In this event, directors, photographers, or other creative artists talk about their life, creative works, and answer the questions of the aspiring teenagers. In our second episode of 2021, we had the renowned National Geographic Channel-Canon Explore to Inspire Contest-winning photographer, Kazi Riasat Alve as our guest. The event was held on Saturday, 29th May 2021. The program began at 8:00 PM and lasted till 9:30 PM. Habib Hasan, Program Coordinator (RT Brainery) of Reflective Teens acted as the host for this event. At the beginning of the interview, our guest was introduced to the audience and he, then talked a bit about himself that worked to lighten up the environment and set the mood for the rest of the interview which was relaxed and fun. Then, the program continued following a sequential round of questions. The first few questions were asked about his personal life, which included how he discovered his passion and who had the most impact in encouraging him to follow it. The second part consisted of questions about his professional life, the hurdles he faced, how he overcame them, and the importance of creators in society. And the final round of the interview comprised of the advice our guest had for young and aspiring photographers and creators. In addition, he answered the participants’ questions during the Q&A session. In essence, it was an educational session that will help aspiring photographers pursue their passions and give them a new perspective in the world of creativity. And the entire event was a success because of the efforts of the RT Creator’s Convergence Team and the members of Reflective Teens, as well.
Furthermore, to ensure that the event was worth flourishing creative skills, a Task-Analysis process was designed to earn the participants professional feedback provided by the guest speaker. The Task-Analysis: A Virtual Photography Competition (RT Creator’s Convergence featuring Kazi Riasat Alve) is a follow-up project of the event where the participants will post their photography works in the Facebook group, “rt Creative Circle – The largest hub of creative teenagers” based on a specific theme by the given deadline and the guest speaker will provide his feedback and suggestions for them to improve and work on. Accordingly, the top 3 winners from the competition will receive a 1-to-1 mentorship for 1 week from the guest speaker. Moreover, the top 3 winners will receive 20% and another 10 winners will receive a 10% discount in the upcoming RT Brainery on Video Editing and Cinematography. Finally, the participants will get a chance to be a part of a photography community through the session and afterward, the competition.
